Going to Court? Here’s what to expect at your first court hearing.
Hi, my name is Givelle Lamano, and I’m the principle attorney at Lamano Law Office. One of the most common questions that people ask us is: What can I expect on my first court date? The simple answer is that there are three possibilities. Either, number one, your charges are rejected, and that means that you don’t have a criminal case against you. Number two, the charges are pending and a decision hasn’t been made yet. Finally, number three, charges are filed against you, in which case you will need an attorney.
Either way, on your very first court date, you have two options, go by yourself or hire an attorney. Regardless of if you go by yourself or hire an attorney, you will fall into one of those categories: charges rejected, charges pending or charges filed. If you have any questions, we are eager to help. Please give us a call.
